That Film Where Nicolas Cage Plays Himself Has a Release Date

Nicolas Cage

So that crazy Nicolas Cage movie where Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage has finally been given a release date.

What a strange world we live in.

Nicolas Cage Plays Nicolas Cage

Best known for starring in some of the worst low-budget movies you can find nowadays Nicolas Cage is still grinding away.

With the odd gold nugget in his latest plethora of indie movies most are just absolute trash. Sorry Nicolas.

But throughout his career, there’s one character that he’s never played before. Himself.

Cage is set to play an exaggerated version of himself. A man drowning in debt, desperate to work with Quentin Tarantino and working for the CIA undercover in The Unbearable Weight of Massive talent.

A film set to be released in theatres March 19, 2021 Deadline reports.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive talent

The 2021 release see a broke Nicolas Cage who’s strained relationship with his fictional teenage daughter hangs in the balance. Out of desperation Cage agrees to get paid to show up at a billionaire’s party who loves his work.

All is going well until the CIA take Cage aside later and reveal his new friend is a Mexican drug cartel kingpin.

Lionsgate are behind this strangely self indulgent movie title and Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten (That Awkward Moment) writers penned the script.

That Awkward Moment is an absolutely incredible movie that I’ve seen over 20 times. I can’t fault their talent so hearing this news had me optimistic.

This meta film was sent to Cage and he was assured the film was born out of love for his career. His iconic roles and his overall persona as a silver screen legend.

It’ll certainly be an unusual experience that’s for sure!
