The Full Monty Disney Plus Series Continues 25 Years Later

Full Monthy Disney Plus 2022

The Full Monty Disney Plus series that no one seemed to know about until today is happening, it’s filming as we speak!

Full Monty Disney Plus

The original movie that made $250M worldwide is getting a spin-off starring the original cast. From 1997 to 2022 the series will pick up with our cast members 25 years after they stripped their way to success.

Filming began in Sheffield today and will star Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting), Mark Addy (Game of Thrones), Lesley Sharp (Naked), Hugo Speer (Britannia), Paul Barber (The Dumping Ground), Steve Huison (The Royle Family), Wim Snape (Gentleman Jack) and Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins).

Disney Plus and FX have commissioned the series and it will follow the cast as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield.

Dealing with a whole new world where education, employment and healthcare are all ever-increasing issues in society. The show is to explore how community effort can triumph over adversity.

Bringing back the original cast is a wonderful idea, I just hope we don’t see them taking their kit off again at any point during this series.

Once was absolutely enough.

Disney Plus

Written and executive produced by Simon Beaufoy he commented on The Full Monty Disney Plus series:

We’re chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again — now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on — to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on.

Executive Produce Lee Mason commented:

Twenty-five years ago Simon introduced us to a group of funny, fearless and resilient unemployed working-class men from Sheffield and the world fell in love with them. We’re delighted to reunite the original cast for this brand-new series on Disney Plus to catch up with these iconic characters and what they’ve been up to since we last saw them on stage in all their glory, and we can’t wait to introduce a host of exciting new faces and characters.
