There’s not many times in my life where i’m right. So I’m just going to take a moment to really enjoy this one.
Disney CEO Says Future of Star Wars Lies in TV
Mere days after our discussion of the death of Star Wars and how The Mandalorian can pave the way for the future of better Disney TV content it seems Disney CEO Bob Iger agrees.
“The priority in the next few years is television with The Mandalorian season 2 coming in October, and then more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter, including the possibility of infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series,” – Bob Iger
A bold move considering just how darn awful the last Disney feature films have been. A solid plan moving forward with a wonderful streaming service.
Currently we have Season 2 of The Mandalorian on the way in addition to the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and the Cassian Andor series.
With the mention of a Mandalorian spin-off to introduce new characters inside an almost multi-verse style structure. I’m excited to see how that goes.
The thought of George Lucas possibly returning to Star Wars is also an exciting prospect.
After my rather large rant about the death of Star Wars I was so happy to hear this news. Focus on something you’re good at. Focus on something the public love. A project that brings everyone together.
It was always obvious the future of Star Wars lies in TV. The Mandalorian has been better than any feature film released from Disney so far. Thank you for finally seeing sense and listening to your audience.
Listening is a trait that falls on deaf ears with most studios. Hats off to you Disney!
Our friends over at Cordbusters reported that Disney and Sky are set to join forces which means even more accessible sci-fi content in the months to come!
Roll on more Star Wars TV!
