The Hole in Wand Blackpool Review: Magical Fun for all the Family

Situated on the promenade is the brand new Harry Potter golf establishment, The Hole in Wand. 9 holes of magical fun for all the family, let’s check out this brand new Blackpool attraction, shall we?

The Hole in Wand Blackpool Promenade

Opening its doors next to the Blackpool Tower on May 28 The Hole in Wand is certainly more than just your regular run of the mill mini-golf course.

You enter this magical realm and are greeted by staff members all in character immersing you into the world of wizardry.

Given a choice between a standard package (£6.99 for 9 holes + a free potion drink worth £2.99) or the premium package (£9.99 for 9 holes + potion + alcohol drink) we went for the premium package and our experience began.

We chose our dragon eggs (golf balls) and our wands (golf clubs) and entered through black gates into the wizarding world.

With dim lighting and music adding a nice ambience to the course the theming is impressive and they’ve really gone above and beyond to fully immerse you in the wizarding world.

Your journey begins with a green screen photo and away you go.

9 holes is naturally quite a small course but the holes are mostly for mini-golf pro’s. There are only 2 out of the 9 holes that I would consider ‘easy’.

Whilst the dark ambience added to proceedings there is a store at the end of your experience for you to buy potions and various other magical memorabilia but with the store being open and in the light it leaks into the attraction and almost ruins the immersion the attraction is trying to create.

Theming is stunningly beautiful with carpet, fireplaces, a potions shop, a broomstick parking space, a beautiful statue and more. They’ve captured the essence of the wizarding world without annoying Warner Bros in the process.

A section of the old Woolworths building has been transformed and what a wonderful job they’ve done too.

The staff seem deep into their roles and having a great time and during the last hole you are given the choice between good and evil.

Make the shot and you are given a potion which represents the choice you’ve made. I naturally chose evil and was presented with Serpents Venom whilst a friend of mine took the good option and was greeted with unicorn essence.

Both potions looked incredible and with our premium package we were given vials with our ‘poison’ in them also known as vodka and whiskey.

This is the second Hole in Wand attraction to open in the UK with the first opening in York back in 2021.

An average game will last between 30-45 minutes depending on group size and this is one Blackpool attraction well worth your time.

Enough of me talking about it, why not check out our Vlog of The Hole in Wand below on our theme park/attractions site Lift Hills and Thrills.

I also want to express a huge thank you to The Hole in Wand who have taken the green screen photo we took at the venue and have given it a permanent home in the attractions store.

So the next time you visit, keep a look out for us!
