The Pharmacist Netflix Series Review

“In 1999, after losing his son in a drug-related shooting in New Orleans and lacking answers from police, a small-town, pharmacist — Dan Schneider — beats the odds when he embarks on a dogged pursuit to find and bring his son’s killer to justice.

But months later, the ripple effects of his son’s addiction and tragic death would find him again when a troubling number of young, seemingly healthy people begin visiting Dan’s pharmacy with high dose prescriptions for OxyContin.

Dan sensed a crisis long before the opioid epidemic had gained nationwide attention.

Dan stakes a mission: save the lives of other sons and daughters within his community.

Then take the flight to Big Pharma itself.”

The Pharmacist Review

The phrase “crack kills” will never go out of style, and the four-episode, Netflix Original, true-crime series The Pharmacist repeatedly reminds the viewer of this sad fact of life.

Dan Schneider’s teenage son was murdered while buying rock in a gang-related shooting.

Schneider goes on an insane personal odyssey to track down the killer.

He also attempts to clean up his city vigilante-style (sans gun) in the wake of a depraved “doctor” who had set up a pill mill in New Orleans, and was writing thousands of unwarranted Oxycontin prescriptions, thus helping to decimate a region and perpetuate the ongoing opioid crisis.

A series that underscores the massive drug dependency issues that so many people face on a daily basis.

It must be said that Schneider’s tenacity and bravery led to something good getting accomplished in an otherwise bleak situation.

Summary

This is a totally messed-up piece of work.

But a piece of work that deserves your attention.
