The Story of 90 Coins Short Film Review

The Story of 90 Coins

This short Chinese love story takes the emotional impact of a feature and crams it into nine minutes of brilliance. 90 coins takes you through emotions of happyness, sadness, joy. A film that revives your own personal memories and experiences all in nine minutes. It’s not just a film, it’s an experience of self reflection and that is a very powerful thing to achieve. Beautifully acted and directed, 90 Coins really is hard to describe without experiencing it for yourself. You certainly won’t regret it.

‘The Story of 90 Coins’ unfolds through a special promise of love and happiness made by one male passionate lover to a seemingly reluctant girl. Ninety coins symbolize ninety days the guy gives himself to convince the girl to marry him by showing her his true color and prove his intentions.

Everything seems to go quite well as the two, in fact, fall in love. But time passes and the romance bubble deflates as reality breaks in with its daily routine, ambiguity, and incomprehension. Will they be able to overcome this critical passage or will they put an end to what it started so pure and beautiful?

The film reminds us all to seize the day. Don’t let a promise become just a beautiful memory. Never give up on love and enjoy the best moments in life above all else. We often go through moments in our life without so much as taking the time to stop and appreciate them. This movie reminds us to make the most of each and every day as we create a memory.

A story of love, promise and understanding the path you choose. The story of 90 coins is a true masterpiece. It’s very rare that I fall in love with a film, let alone a nine minute film! This movie  has captured my heart, drawn me in and opened my eyes all in such a short space of time.
