Samuel Edwards brings us his Top 5 Corona Beer Fast and Furious moments, and there are plenty to choose from!
We are all probably sick of hearing the word ‘Corona’ at the moment but it seems to be acceptable in the fast and furious franchise and its context.
In franchise law and definition, ‘Corona’ is a code of honour and a form of acceptance to be part of the crew.
It’s the beer that is always there to be served as a celebration after a mission.
In this article, I rank the top 5 five moments where they celebrate using the iconic drinking brand, Corona Beer!
No.5 – “You Can Have Any Drink You Like, As Long As It’s Corona“

At number 5 in our Corona Beer Fast and Furious moments, we go back to the roots of the franchise, The Fast and the Furious.
The film that started it all, introduced audiences to street racing and Paul Walker.
We see Vin Diesel enter the party scene and welcome Paul Walker to any brew he would like, but it has to be a Corona.
The scene sets the tone of Vin’s relationship with his crew including Matt Schulze, which actually becomes important to the narrative of the film.
We learn which characters are ruthless and which are more forgiving on a moral level. This sharpens the dynamic.
It’s a subtle scene, but it has an underlying fierce nature to it as there is a clear rivalry occurring between the characters.
The crew would later all share a corona in a BBQ scene with Jesse leading the speech.
When Rob Cohen (Director) was in the process of making the film, he believed the brand was a symbol of being a true Californian which would create a more realistic experience for the audience.
There seems to be a character and story-driven purpose to the drink other than brand marketing.
No.4 – “I’m More Of A Corona Man Myself”

Furious 7, is another fine addition to the franchise.
This time Kurt Russell casually offers Vin Diesel his drink. T
his scene highlights the charm of Kurt Russell.
This is the first moment in the franchise, where we see a character actually talk about the quality of the drink and compare it to ale.
This would make for a perfect short commercial for Corona Beer.
It perhaps leans more towards a marketing tool than a narrative progression, but it puts you in the mood to sip a cool one.
This film would later become the series’ highest-grossing instalment with a worldwide box office of 1.516 billion dollars.
The film is also important as it was the last outing that would feature Paul Walker, making the film just that more special.
No.3 – The Nightclub Scene

Fast and Furious! The 4th instalment was met with unfavourable reviews but it still had some pretty iconic scenes.
In contrast to the first film, we see Dom enter a nightclub.
This scene is all about the dialogue exchanges between Dom, Brian and Campos. Dom expresses his rebellious persona to Campos.
The scene later ends with Campos mentioning that Brian is lucky to have dated Dom’s sister and still be alive, but the awkward humour is cooled down with the two sipping corona each.
It’s priceless.
No.2 – The BBQ Scene

Fast and Furious 6! A perfect way to end the film with a BBQ scene.
This scene is memorable in several ways. Other than the onslaught of shared corona beers, we get a surprising but charming speech by Tyrese Gibson.
Justin Lin did a fantastic job with the action scenes but this scene is all about the characters and their witty dynamics.
It’s the scene where we see the return of Dom’s partner, Letty, making it a proper nostalgic nod to the first film.
It also did a great job in continuing the tradition of family from Fast Five and it also featured a terrific ensemble cast with most of the original cast members returning.
No.1 – The Importance of Family

Fast Five! There is no way I could have not mentioned this scene.
The scene highlights the thematic importance of family. In my opinion, the scene was the first proper moment in the franchise to really hammer home that idea.
After watching this scene, I really got the sense that they were a family and of course, they do this with a speech and beer between all of them.
Universal ended up using this scene in the delicate tribute they made honouring Paul Walker’s life.
This film would also feature the bank heist sequence which is one of the most impressive sequences in the whole franchise despite its ludicrous and flawed physics.
What’s your favourite out of our Corona Beer Fast and Furious moments or do you have one of your own personal favourites?
Overall
All of these scenes are memorable, the takeaway from this is that of course, family comes before Corona Beer in Fast and Furious Law.
Whilst we wait for new restrictions and updates to come from the Government, we might as well sit back and relax with a cold one.
