The UK’s most popular dinosaur has been revealed in a recent study.

With Jurassic World Dominion opinion at the cinemas right now (check out our review HERE) the guys and gals over at PokerListings.com have examined the search volume on Google for the UK to find the most searched dinosaurs. To the researchers great surprise – it is not the infamous T. Rex!
It’s quite surprising that the T.Rex hasn’t taken the top spot in this survey, very surprising in fact.
So who did take the top spot?
Two dinosaurs shared the same top spot podium both generating 37000 searches each month.
The top two favorites have also had heavy influence on pop culture, being the origins of the Pokémon pair Nidoking and Nidoqueen.
Haven’t guessed it yet?
That’s right, the Stegosaurus and Triceratops took the joint top spot for the UK’s most favourite dinosaur.
In second place is Velociraptor, which also plays a key role in the new Jurassic World movies, where it fills the roles as the dinosaur “Blue” and her child, “Beta”. The pair is undoubtedly at least partly responsible for securing their species’ 36000 monthly searches in Google.
In third place is Diplodocus. With its long, giraffe-esque necks, they have captivated kids at all ages since “The Land Before Time”, and also get heavily featured in the newly released Jurassic World: Dominion. This peaceful giant gets 35000 monthly searches in Google.
Speaking about the findings, a spokesperson for PokerListings said:
“Many will associate dinosaurs with the infamous tyrannous rex, but according to our research, it’s not even among the top 10 most searched dinosaurs, in fact, there are 15 dinosaur species that are more searched after. The search interest for tyrannous rex is a fourth of the search volume generated by its plant-eating siblings.”
