Thirst Movie
If Icelandic gay vampires are your thing then Thirst is your kind of movie. I’m not quite sure what to make of any of this news.
Not enough has been released for the movie for me to know if it’s genuinely serious or a slapstick style comedy. Only time will tell.
The film will get its World Premiere at the Nordic Film Market of the Goteborg Film Festival.
LevelK shared their first look image (above) with Variety as we get a sample of mood and tone the movie is set to go in.
The movie is directed by Gaukur Úlfarsson and Steinþór Hróar Steinþórsson.
The film takes place in a small town where evil is lurking. Strange crimes and brutality frequently occur.
Thirst follows Hulda, a woman who is suspected of murdering her brother. Investigated by the police but released from custody due to insufficient evidence. She has no where to go.
It is here where she befriends an elderly man who turns out to be a 1,000 year old, gay single vampire who brings her brother back to life. This leads to terrible consequences.
From reading what the film is about i’m not sure if it’s meant to be taken seriously or not. As long as necks is the only thing this vampire is sucking then we’ll be ok!
Starring Hjörtur Sævar Steinason and featuring cameos from well-known Icelandic actors, including Ingvar E. Sigurdsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir and Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir (Black Mirror).
It’s safe to say that no matter how this film turns out it’ll be better than that third episode of Dracula.
Will you be looking forward to seeing big gay vampires on the big screen?
