The season finale is here, let’s take a look at Top Gear Season 28, episode 6 right here on Back to the Movies.
Top Gear Season 28 Episode 6 Review

Tonight’s Top Gear Season 28, Episode 6 is the last episode in what has been a revitalizing series for the infamous car show.
Their second year together as a group presenting Chris Harris, Paddy McGuiness and Freddie Flintoff have taken Top Gear to heights not seen for a very long time.
Our final episode in the series as a standalone episode is good.
But as an overall series, it really has been outstanding.

Whilst Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff still struggle with the studio sections it’s Paddy McGuiness that looks most at home in the studio (naturally).
We can overlook the studio segments thou however as Top Gear comes alive when these three are out on the road.
Hilarious banter between the three in addition to outrageous stunts and great chemistry, has solidified these last two Top Gear seasons as some of the best since the Clarkson days.
Speaking about the banter when asked in an interview by the BBC Paddy McGuiness said:
Yes. There’s lots of banter. I have been saying to the executive producer, Clare Pizey, that we should put stuff online that doesn’t make the show. There is so much that we do off-camera that might be a little too much for the episode, but if you put it on the iPlayer, people would probably watch it.
From bungee jumping off a cliff in a Metro to racing a fighter jet with a McClaren hypercar. The show finds its feet in its incredibly outrageous tasks and challenges.
Even the more subdued episodes such as one spectacular road trip through Peru brought a whole new level to Top Gear. It was all about the group comradery once again.
A part of what made Top Gear so engaging back in the day.
The last group of presenters sadly didn’t have that chemistry so It’s nice to see it back again on screen.
I was rather sad this particular series had to end.
Our final episode sees Paddy McGuiness testing the brand new £120,000 BMW M8 which let’s be honest would be an amazing spectacle if it wasn’t for that BMW badge pressed on it!
One of the most expensive BMW’s ever produced and certainly the most expensive in the M Series would you really choose this car over the likes of a Bentley or Aston Martin? The show asks that very same question.
The Emergency services are also put to the test as they go head to head in a battle of speed.
Prepare for things to really heat up (literally) when Stig’s car is set on fire in a pursuit of epic proportions.
Both of these scenes absolutely fly by and the banter and competitive nature of all three presenters comes to the fold once again.
Remembering Colin McRae

Top Gear remembers the incredible race some 25 years ago that saw Colin McRae become the first British driver to win the World Rally Championship.
Chris Harris got special permission from the family of Colin McRae to drive the championship-winning Subaru Impreza around the woods.
The first time anyone outside of the McRae family has driven Colin’s infamous car.
It’s a really nice tribute to such a legend of the racing world and you can see just how much this once in a lifetime experience meant to Chris Harris.
Whilst Top Gear does have its moments of acting up to the camera (at times) this was a genuine (and rare) heartfelt moment within a solid series of entertainment.
Cast Series Highlights
When the BBC sat down and spoke to Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff each presenter had their own fondest moments of this incredible 28th series.
Chris Harris:

The car bungee film is a standout. Fred’s performance is fantastic. It embodies everything Top Gear should be about. It’s great Sunday evening entertainment.
You can imagine sitting down with your family to watch it whopping, hollering and gasping.
All the things you want people to do when they watch Top Gear.
Freddie Flintoff:

We went to Peru, which was amazing. The Incas built the roads years ago. They were so far ahead of their time that I’m inclined to believe it’s actually aliens because some of the structures and the roads are so regimented, I just don’t think it’s possible.
It’s almost like the Egyptians with the Pyramids.
The really nice thing about Peru is the people. They are so welcoming, they’re so proud of their country and so eager to show it off.
It might sound like an old thing to say, but the country was so clean. So clean from your pollution and plastic and litter. They have real pride in their country. I love Peru.
Top Gear Season 28 Overall

Whilst we’ve only posted a Top Gear Season 26 Episode 6 review it only serves to echo my feelings for all the other episodes before it.
Bringing back magic long lost from the Top Gear series we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next season.
Whilst I haven’t covered the studio guest segment of this particular episode there is a good reason for that. I simply find it boring.
Where once huge guests would drive these cars we’re clutching at straws of undercards on the Jonathan Ross show nowadays.
The KSI guest slot was the nail in the coffin, the airbag challenge was hilarious and fitted perfectly with a celebrity guest but there’s just something about the format of the star in the car that drags on for me.

Something I’d love to see changed up in future series. If you’re moving in a new positive direction then getting rid of some of the deadweight sections makes sense.
It’s great to see these guys having such a great time I only hope and pray that Freddie ups his presenting game and loosens up a bit.
Looking as wooden as his old cricket bat on stage he comes into his own when his personality is allowed to shine in the more relaxed outdoors away from a studio audience.

Season 29 of Top Gear
Top Gear Season 28, Episode 6 is the fitting end to a wonderful Top Gear series where one episode hasn’t dragged on or felt like filler outside of the guest interview slots.
Even the Americans love it as Top Gear season 28 USA has been well received and has shot up 33% in audience numbers!
I don’t dare to say it so prematurely but it certainly feels as thou Top Gear is back to where it should be.
Roll on Season 29!

Summary
A fitting end to a truly remarkable series where Paddy McGuiness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris have hit the perfect note of chemistry, banter and engaging content to make one hell of a television spectacle.
Every episode feels as thou it’s trying to compete with the one previous to be bigger and better.
I absolutely can’t wait for Season 29.
It may be a little premature but it certainly feels as thou Top Gear is back to where it should be!
