Marking the 666th episode of the series The Simpsons delivers Treehouse of Horror XXX just in time for Halloween.
The opening sequence involves an evil Maggie, fathered by 10,000 maniacs. A spoof of The Omen with a dosing of The Shining thrown in there for good measure is funny and introduces the devilish show in fine form.
Danger Things

Spoofing Stranger Things we see Millhouse as Will Byers and Lisa playing the Eleven role. As the pair take a trip to The Over Under (their version of the Upside down) they are encountered by creatures in an alternative Springfield.
It’s certainly a spot the reference segment but even if you haven’t seen the shown there’s enough going on here to be engaged.
Heaven Swipes Right

Homer dies too early and heaven sends him back to earth in another body. Confusing Marge in the process Homer switches through various bodies. I love how dark the humour can get in the Treehouse of Horror segments, it completely jumps an age range and suits me down to the ground.
After flicking through numerous bodies Homer finally finds himself a body in the most unlikely of matches for Marge. Stay tuned for when Maggie speaks at the end, that’s enough to send chills down your spine.
When Hairy Met Slimy

The Shape of Water is spoofed in this final segment as Selma and Kang mix races and mate. Some very adult puns are dropped in this episode that are hilarious. Is anyone up for some Wookie nookie or an R2-threesome?
Overall

Certainly a Halloween highlight, the stories are funny and keep you hooked from start to finish. Funnily enough my favourite segment was actually the opening rather than the individual episodes. One to watch for old and new Simpsons fans alike.
