Trentham Monkey Forest Review: An Affordable Must-Visit Attraction

Monkey Forest Trentham Review

It was my first ever visit to this Stoke on Trent attraction as I bring you my Trentham Monkey Forest review here on Back to the Movies.

Situated just down the road from Trentham Gardens the Monkey Forest is a small tranquil walkthrough area populated with you guessed it, monkeys.

Opening at 10 am there is ample parking and also a Treetop Adventure course right next door if you’re feeling adventurous.

After seeing one too many movies I was a little hesitant walking into an area where monkeys roam free and with the sharp teeth they have could take me out at any given moment.

My worries quickly disappeared inside as these well behaved and happy monkeys roamed in such a free manner that it became a really relaxing and lovely experience.

On a rare sunny UK day, there were staff aplenty around to provide information on the monkeys and we got to witness a feed that happens at numerous times during the day.

There are also talks scheduled at certain times where you can learn more about the monkeys.

It was so nice to see just how big the space was for the monkeys to roam, a full-sized forest complete with tall trees, lavender and streams.

The monkeys within the attraction are endangered Barbary Macaques native to the mountains of Morocco and Algeria.

Upon entering the park you are given a video presentation at the gate laying down the rules such as:

No touching the monkeys, keep distance from the monkeys, children need to be supervised and there is strictly no eating or drinking inside the enclosure.

There were a few other rules listed but those are the only ones I remembered!

With fun facts dotted around the attraction and a wonderful walk through the forest, it was so unusual to see such a variety of behaviours throughout.

Playful monkeys, tired monkeys, random monkeys just crossing the path in front of you and even parents carrying their young around with them.

There were plenty of benches to sit down and take in your surroundings and I was very surprised by just how close you could get to the monkeys.

If you’re a fond photographer this place will be your heaven.

It’s not like a zoo where you need a professional zoom lens to catch just a glimpse of an animal, these are close enough to get professional shots with just a camera phone!

A wonderful local attraction in Stoke on Trent and definitely something different.

I can imagine in the rain that this attraction wouldn’t have the same magic with many monkeys seeking shelter.

For me, it was definitely an attraction to check out on a good weather day so you can enjoy your walk and see as much as you can.

Costing £9.50 for adults it was affordable and a great way to spend some time in Trentham next to other attractions for you to see and partake in all within 10 minutes of one another.
