True Terror with Robert Englund Review

Episode 1 Synopsis

A North Carolina storekeeper is tormented by a countdown to his demise; a New Orleans teen is trapped in a waking nightmare; an Atlanta police station is the battleground for a serial killer and a vengeful spirit.

I feel as though I’m a walking endorsement for the tales of Robert Englund. The numerous times I’ve met him and the conversations we’ve had. I could listen to the guy talk all day!

Mr.Englund tells a great story as you get lost in his words as he weaves a wicked tale.

Robert could be discussing the art of paint drying on a wall and give it a vicious flair and an oozing sense of interest.

Within these 6 part episodes, we have 3 stories contained within each.

Our first episode, titled Twisted Relationships kicks off with a story about a man who dreamt of his own demise.

How fitting that the first story is about nightmares. These creepy little bedtime stories that will certainly leave you wanting to leave a light on before you drift to sleep.

The incredible thing about this concept is that Robert Englund, yes, Freddy Krueger himself is telling you these tales so even if you do end up getting some rest after watching this show you’re still well and truly screwed!

Robert spoke to Forbes about the shows individual stories:

It’s not just something that was said around a campfire. They’re not myths, they’re not rumors.

Some of them are urban legends now, but they didn’t begin that way. What I like about it, is every single story we tell was chronicled in an American newspaper back in the 19th [century] and even as far back as the 18th century and the early 20th century.

I love that it has that certain amount of cred.

Channelling his inner Vincent Price, Robert takes us on a journey of the weird and the wonderful in this Twilight Zone style episode.

Robert’s captivating voice along with some low-budget special effects between scenes paints the picture and sets the scene.

To be honest, the visuals would never matter to me when it comes to shows like this. You’re here for the information and you’re here to learn some things.

Creeping yourself out in the process by exploring the world of weird.

After finishing the first episode I sat down and certainly thought about the possibility of these ‘things’ being out there in the world.

Some of these cases have documentation and sightings going back hundreds of years. Not everyone could be lying, could they?

True Terror with Robert Englund is certainly Rob’s forte’. He fits the show like his hand fits a certain Glove.

Robert Continued

I was a fan boy as a child [who] liked horror movies and science fiction.

In the ‘70s and ‘80s, I was addicted to all that great crime reporting in the New York Times Sunday section.

I do like that and it’s sort of who my personality and I’m [now] sharing it with people.

The show certainly opens your mind and broadens your outlooks. The 60-minute runtime of the episode absolutely flies by and leaves you looking forward to the next episode.

I’m still leaning towards being a non-believer until Sasquatch comes knocking on my door.
