After I had a lot of fun writing the best cinema nachos article that had me exploring all nacho offerings from each of the UK’s three major cinemas I thought why not indulge in another eating quest and find out which UK cinema has the best popcorn.
Now extortionate pricing aside (all three are guilty of this) I will be sitting down to indulge in all three popcorn offerings from Odeon, Cineworld and Vue cinemas.
From appearance to taste we’ll give you our thoughts and feelings on each of the cinema’s offerings.
With all cinemas offering sweet and salty, it’s my job to bring my verdict on both flavours. Let’s begin, shall we?
Vue Popcorn

For me, Vue’s salty popcorn was the absolute worst of the bunch, it was too heavy on the salt and wasn’t something you could binge and dive into on the regular it was certainly the case of trying one and then passing it around to your friends so you could all soak up the salt as a unit.
One mere human tackling a Vue salty popcorn bucket is a recipe for dehydration!
I did however find their sweet popcorn to be quite delightful with it looking great with a solid flavour and a great taste.
Certainly not the best tasting of the bunch but certainly not the worst, a solid 2nd place for Vue for their sweet popcorn but a rock bottom place for their horrendous salty popcorn offering!
Salty – 3rd place
Sweet – 2nd place
Odeon Popcorn

Odeon’s popcorn strikes a delightful balance between salty and sweet, catering to varied taste buds.
The salty variant boasts a satisfying crunch with just the right amount of salt, ensuring each bite is flavorful without overwhelming the palate which the Vue popcorn did without a shadow of a doubt!
Odeon’s sweet popcorn was what dreams are made of with a nice natural taste and a light and airy texture that had you going back for more.
Odeon smashed it out of the park wiht both salty and sweet and take the crown for the two of them!
Salty – 1st place
Sweet – 1st place
Cineworld Popcorn

Cineworld’s salt and sweet popcorn sadly falls short in the sweet department but strikes a middle balance in the salty department.
The sweet offering lacks depth of flavour with zero satisfying sweetness of note and the salted version just lacks the right amount of salt consistently, one day it’s overly salty the next there’s barely anything on there.
It’s a disappointing performance from Cineworld on both accounts and popcorn enthusiasts will likely source alternatives when they next visit to see a film.
Salty – 2nd place
Sweet – 3rd place
We’d also advise you to NEVER purchase popcorn if you’re set to watch a 4DX movie because you’ll rarely get any in your mouth, they’ll be flying everywhere as some of the seat movements can be brutal!
Odeon are victorious in the UK cinema popcorn challenge but it’s certainly a different story when it comes to their nacho offering!
