Valentines Kids Movies – We Choose Our Favourite

Wall-E Love Story

Whilst adults have to reluctantly bow down to the tradition of Valentine’s and get their spouse some flowers, chocolates or even a nice meal for kids it’s like a mini-holiday. We take a look at our favourite Valentines kids movies for you to enjoy this February 14th.

From fairytale classics to cartoons and more we’ve added a whole range of kids’ movies into this list to keep everyone happy. With undertones of romance or just simply a good movie we’ve got quite a collection to share with you today.

Let’s dive into a few of our favourite Valentines kids movies.

1. Lady and the Tramp (1955)

Lady and the Tramp

First up on our Valentines kids movies list is the 1955 classic Lady and the Tramp if only for this iconic image above.

For that scene alone we’ve added Lady and the Tramp into this particular list. What says Valentines Day more than two pups sharing a sneaky kiss at the end of a spaghetti noodle.

A story of loving one another despite their differences Lady and the Tramp is a time-honoured classic that deserves your attention this Valentine.

2. Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (1975)

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown

Spend Valentine’s Day with the Peanuts gang in this holiday (is Valentine’s a holiday?) tradition. It’s time to make some sense out of love.

3. Shrek (2001)

Shrek

A film after my own relationship path as an ogre (me) finds the love of his life.

Shrek goes on a quest with his noble steed to bring Princess Fiona to Lord Farquaad to be married but things don’t quite go as planned as Shrek and Fiona grow closer together.

Love really can happen in the most unexpected places.

4. Up (2009)

UP Disney Pixar

The opening scene in this Pixar classic is certainly an eye-opener and doesn’t exactly ring true that positivity that Valentines Day holds.

We all have to go through sadness at some stage in our life, those we’ve loved, those we’ve lost but keep watching and you’ll find a wonderful movie that has withstood the test of time.

5.  The Princess Bride (1987)

Princess Bride

A classic fairytale style adventure as a separated couple will stop at nothing to reunite.

A stellar Cary Elwes performance carries this tale with laughter and love from start to finish.

6. The Addams Family (1991)

Addams Family

Love differently.

The Addams Family embodies the alternative relationship crowd as a besotted Gomez and his wife Morticia embody love inside their weird and wonderful mansion.

With laughter along the way, a catchy theme song and loveable mayhem The Addams Family love differently this Valentine’s Day.

7. Gnomeo and JULIET (2011)

Gnomeo and JULIET

Based on William Shakespeare’s play (loosely) Gnomeo and Juliet tells the tale of forbidden love in this animated movie.

8. Princess Diaries (2001)

 Princess Diaries (2001)

When Mia finds out one day that she is a princess this 2001 fairytale style adventure begins as Mia begins her journey to learn what it takes to become a royal in Genovia.

With her Prince Charming just around the corner will she get her own happily-ever-after?

9. My Girl (1991)

My Girl (1991)

A film that tugs at the heartstrings one minute and has you running for the tissues to dry your tears the next.

A story of love, loss and find yourself in this classic movie starring Macaulay Culkin.

10. The Little Rascals (1994)

Little Rascals

Whilst the original movie from the ’30s is head and shoulders above this one (in my opinion) The Little Rascals is still worth a watch.

Mischievous youngsters Spanky (Travis Tedford) and Buckwheat (Ross Elliot Bagley) lead an anti-girl organization, and they pick their buddy Alfalfa (Bug Hall) to represent them in an all-important soapbox car rally.

When the boys then find their driver canoodling with schoolmate Darla (Brittany Ashton Holmes), they decide they must break up the couple.

Unfortunately, while Spanky and his pals are busy meddling in Alfalfa’s affairs, their prized race car is nabbed by two young toughs.

11. The Wish Dragon (2021)

Wish Dragon

A teapot that magically reveals a dragon that grants wishes is certainly a storyline taken from Aladdin but our protagonist Din uses the wishes to impress his childhood best friend.

Will it work?

12. Trolls (2016)

Trolls

Trolls is a movie about love, happiness and music. With a cracking soundtrack and the main theme song being made iconic by this very movie, Trolls is a get up off your feet and get grooving kind of Valentines Day treat for all the family.

13. Wall-E (2008)

WALL•E

A sci-fi adventure movie in space with a love story undertone thrown in with an environmental message. Wall-E does have it all as love and friendship combine in this heartwarming tale where communication and connection goes deeper than just mere words.

14. Frozen (2013)

Frozen Poster

Whilst not particularly a Valentine’s Day movie it’s an instant classic all the same.

This Oscar-winning animated movie tells the tale of sisterhood and the bond between Anna and Elsa in their kingdom of Arendelle.

More of a film that focuses on family love than romantic love.

15. Benji (2018)

Benji (2018)

Furry friends and family, that’s Benji. This remake of the 1974 film revolves around a lovable canine who protects a pair of siblings from harm.

16. Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Whether you choose the animation or the live-action movie starring Emma Watson this is the go-to fairy tale love story.

A cursed beast looking for love and an imprisoned woman who learns very quickly that you never judge a book by its cover.

A strange mismatch but a beautiful Disney classic all the same.

17. High School Musical (2006)

High School Musical

Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), the star athlete at a small-town high school, falls for nerdy beauty Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) at a holiday karaoke party.

When they return to campus, Troy and Gabriella audition for the upcoming school musical. Meanwhile, the jealous Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) conspires to squelch their chances.

The two must struggle to make it to auditions while also meeting their existing obligations to the basketball team and the academic decathlon.

A cheesy high-school drama but with a wonderful soundtrack that catapulted the careers of many involved (mainly Zac Efron) this is a Disney high school classic where the love of music far outshines any high-school romance in this particular flick.

18. The Greatest Showman (2017)

the greatest showman review

Diving headfirst into love, passion and chasing a dream The Greatest Showman certainly has it all. Following the story of showman P.T Barnum this movie really has it all.

With the most beautiful soundtrack and captivating story it doesn’t take a genius to see why this movie broke numerous records.
