A Christmas present that kept me busy for hours (five to be exact) as I bring you my very own review of this wooden Vitascope puzzle.

A vitascope is a very early film projector that was first demonstrated in 1895. The projector consists of a large electrically-powered projector that utilises light to cast images.
The images are originally taken by a kinetoscope mechanism onto gelatin film.
Introducing the wooden Vitascope from ROBOTIME, a 183 piece puzzle that is as exciting as it is fiddly.
Made entirely from basswood this completely functional projector is powered by a crank and generator which powers a small lights that shines through a 25mm lens and depicts a vintage dancing black and white image onto any plain white wall or surface.
What struck me about the model is the beautiful creation of it. German engineering at its finest as all the pieces require absolutely no glue and all fit snuggly into one another forming a very sturdy final product.
Worried that my gears wouldn’t crank when putting it all together was my major concern from start to finish but once the film reel was threaded and it showed the film working perfectly, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Using
183 pieces 3D puzzle. If you have passion for movies or you love DIY and enjoy building amazing things, you’ll love this DIY vintage movie proyector. Completely functional, projects a real movie. Best engineering toy for kids and adults, great for learning mechanics. Get it for yourself, give it as a gift, or build it with your love ones!
With easy to pop out pieces this model is aimed at children 14 and over but you’ll absolutely need some patience, not because the model is hard to build, because the instructions are absolutely awful.
Sometimes they’re so hard to follow I had to jump on YouTube and watch someone else build on and pray to an almighty power that I was doing it the right way and the pieces were facing the right way.
This is certainly not a model for children and if you are gifting someone younger than 14 this model then be prepared to sit down with them for a good 5 hours+ until completion.
It won’t be easy, there will be lots of fiddly moments and moments of sheer terror as you hear a small snap or click and worry you’ve ruined the entire model.
But fear not.
If the worst comes to the worst, there’s plenty of spare parts left over at the end to replace as you see fit.
Although despite that, you probably will never want to see another wooden puzzle in your life for as long as you shall live.
Once the model is completed it becomes a great display piece and a great talking piece to all those who see it. You can take it down from its display area and show that it works and be proud of what you have built.
Investing 5 hours into this project was a worthy effort and from start to finish I was impressed with the quality of the pieces, the sheer attention to detail of its creators and how everything fits together beautifully, like magic.
This is the perfect gift for any avid film fan and I highly recommend you pick one up for that film fan in your life.
