Scandinavia’s biggest film festival, Göteborg Film Festival is set to isolate one film enthusiast on the lighthouse island of Pater Noster.
Complete isolation from the world on a rock far out at sea with only movies as his or her companion.
Our world looks very different today and so does the film festival. Some participants will also get a real-life experience with the opportunity to watch the festival films in total seclusion.
Welcome to The Isolated Cinema. The festival is looking for someone keen to spend one week in social isolation on the remote lighthouse island of Pater Noster, a secluded spot out at sea, far away from family, friends and your mobile phone.
Everyone is welcome to apply for the spot on the island via the festivals website and the festival will also be offering isolated film screenings for one person at a time at the Scandinavium arena and the Draken cinema.
This iconic and quite frankly incredible experience will have you utterly alone with only yourself as company until you go in to see the movies of the festival.
Pater Noster is a lonely lighthouse in the North Sea perched at the very edge of the archipelago in one of Sweden’s most barren, windswept locations.
The island has a longstanding reputation for its perilous location – surrounded as it is by hundreds of jagged rocks hidden beneath the water’s surface.
Visitors can only reach the island by helicopter or a skilled boatsman.
One week, one film festival, could you hack it?
I’d be right at home on the island but I’d absolutely want to take my phone with me or a camera to record the isolation for a 7-day VLOG like no other!
I think isolation is a wonderful time for self reflection and development and with the uncertainty of 2021 hanging in the balance there’s no time like the present to be at one with your own thoughts, to progress with mental barriers or challenges you face and come out the other side a stronger person.

The chosen one will be announced on January 19 and will be isolated for one week from January 30.
