Star of the 2024 musical biopic Robbie Williams has today been announced as the official shirt sponsor for Port Vale for the next two seasons for the Stoke-On-Trent based football club.
The pop icon is a life-long supporter of the club and even performed a sell-out concert at Vale Park back in 2022 when he was involved in another shirt launch and has his own hospitality lounge at Port Vale named after him but this time he’s gone one step further and put his iconic logo on the front of it!
Robbie Williams was born and raised in Tunstall, Stoke-On-Trent a mere stones throw away from Vale Park and grew up watching the valiants during his younger years.
A fans dream come true as now he has his signature RW logo across the chest of the Home and Away shirts for the 26/27 season and the 27/28 season.
As part of this sponsorship Robbie will also be working to shed light on the charity work done by the clubs foundation.
Robbie Williams said: “It feels pretty incredible, to be honest. Robbie Williams, on the front of a Port Vale shirt. It’s a match made in heaven, for me.
“I started going to the Vale when it was 50p for a junior supporter to get in. It takes a village to raise a child, and the Railway Paddock at Vale Park raised me.
“I’m back here and back involved because of [Chair and Co-Owner] Carol [Shanahan] and the family, and what they have created backstage. Being embraced again by the Port Vale family has been very important to me,and it feels wonderful.”
Port Vale Chief Executive Officer, Matt Hancock said: “This partnership means a huge amount to us here at the football club, and we are absolutely delighted to be working alongside Robbie. He is not only a global superstar, but also a genuine supporter of the club with a deep and personal connection to our town. It’s that authenticity which makes this so powerful.
“From the very first conversations, it was clear this was about Robbie’s life-long love for Port Vale and making a tangible difference to people’s lives. The support and exposure the partnership will give to the club and Foundation will help us reach more people, create more opportunities and continue using the club as a force for good.
“We’re grateful to Robbie and his team and can’t wait to see the partnership come to life, starting with the release of our new kits for 2026/27.”
As a Port Vale fan myself this is a positive step forward for the club as sponsorships are coming in thick and fast into the club with Coca Cola and Holdcroft Motors just to name two who have come in recently as new partners within the club.
Let’s just hope the form on the pitch improves as Port Vale are suddenly becoming a yo-yo club bouncing between League 1 and League 2 season after season. Hopefully the sponsorships and new players coming into the club provide some stability for us to get promoted at the first time of asking and guide Port Vale into calmer waters in the seasons to come.
Whatever happens the news that has come in today has already garnered attention featuring on radio stations, TV news stations and even a plethora of articles online which hasn’t happened with previous sponsorships in years gone by.
The club is getting attention and Robbie is getting a lifelong dream come true even if albeit in his own words ‘he had to ask his wife for permission to do it’.
