Universal Studios UK Set to Cost £10 Billion!

Universal UK theme park

With a Universal Studios UK theme park set to be green-lit this summer the full cost of the investment has recently been revealed in parliament at an eye-watering £10 Billion.

Universal has purchased a 476-acre plot of land in Bedford as they explore a new theme park, Citywalk 500-bedroom hotel complex.

Feasibility studies and due diligence work have been underway for some time with a recent public consultation being met with overwhelming turnout and positivity regarding the possibility of this movie theme park heading to the UK and becoming the first Universal Studios theme park in Europe!

This very exciting prospect has been discussed in the House of Commons where the North East Bedfordshire MP Richard Fuller said:

“The secretary of state will be aware of the proposal by Universal Studios for a theme park in Bedfordshire – a £10 billion investment in the country. She will also be aware of the strong local support, led by Conservative Mayor Tom Wootton, so can she assure me and other Bedfordshire MPs that she is working hard with the Treasury to get a response to that proposal, and that a Government proposal will be forthcoming before the summer?”

With rail links set to be improved, thousands of jobs created and the land being excavated and tested as we speak with numerous trenches dug on-site things are looking very positive indeed for this theme park coming to fruition with a rough opening date of 2030.

With five branded theme parks and resorts across the globe having the UK on that list would certainly step up the quality of theme park offerings here in the country as competition is sparse.

I absolutely cannot wait to see this come to life and watch as Universal not only dominate the UK but Europa with 8 million+ guests estimated to visit the attraction every year which is mind-blowing considering the UK’s most popular theme park (Legoland Windsor) hovers around the 3M visits a year annually.

They have confidence in the UK becoming the European home of a Universal park and all of the tourism and financial support that comes with it!
