Avatar 2 overtaking Avengers: Endgame as the biggest selling movie of all time is a ‘certainly’ says director James Cameron.
In quite an arrogant statement James Cameron says he is 100% certain he will regain top spot in the box office biggest selling movie of all time once again with Avatar 2. Bare in mind this is a film that will be released in 2021, a whole 12 years after the original was released. In addition it’s a movie that didn’t really need a sequel in any way shape or form and for Cameron to wait so long and still think it can beat records. I’m not sure I agree.

“I think it’s a certainty,” said Cameron to USA Today. “I was really concerned with all the new streaming services and the different ways people can consume movies right now that the theatergoing experience might have been eroded to the point that a new Avatar film – even if it were better than the first one, and better received – could never achieve the same box-office levels. Now at least we know such a thing is still possible at the movie theater. This gives me heart to go forward.”
“I don’t want to sound snarky after I took the high road (by offering congratulations),” he says. “But they beat us by one quarter of a percent. I did the math in my head while driving in this morning. I think accountants call that a rounding error.”
I’m glad someone is confident in their product but for me Mr.Cameron you’re about 10-11 years too late. I think someone started on the Christmas wine a bit too early!
Avatar 2 is expected to hit theatres on 17th December 2021
