Could a Freddy Krueger animated movie be in the works?
Recently actor Robert Englund recently told Entertainment Weekly that he doesn’t think he’ll ever get back into the makeup chair stating he was too old to play Freddy Krueger.
Now whilst this may be entirely true it doesn’t stop other realms of Freddy Krueger from being reincarnated.
Could We See A Freddy Krueger Animated Movie?

As long as he doesn’t look like this we’re good to go!
Speaking to Syfy Wire this week Englund mentioned that he’d love to still voice Freddy Krueger in some capacity. In an animated continuation of the horror franchise.
“Now, if they did a really expensive animated version, a graphic novel animated version, I would love to go do the voice for it. Yeah, that would be fun to do,” said Englund.
He also mentioned that he’d love to see a Freddy prequel or a remake of Dream Warriors in that very same interview.
With the Wes Craven estate now regaining control of the franchise from New Line the possibilities are endless.
In the same chat, Englund reiterated recent comments about the future of the live-action franchise, noting that he’d love to see a Freddy prequel or a remake of Dream Warriors.
Nightmare on Elm Street
The original movie saw several teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger. A nightmarish creature that would haunt the teens in their dreams.
If they died in their dream they’d die in real life. A mystery about this character is further uncovered by Nancy (Heather Langenkamp).
But can she and her boyfriend (Johnny Depp) solve the mystery before Freddy strikes again?
Could It Happen?
100% yes!
An animated film would make sense especially with Robert attached. No long hours in the makeup chair which suits Robert down to the ground!
With Robert mentioning a prequel the realms outside of an animated movie are also possible.
If we are to see a prequel the film would revolve around Robert Englund’s character before the parents of Elm Street hunted him down.
This could be very interesting indeed. I could easily see Robert back in the role-playing his younger self with the addition of The Irishman style youth altering CGI.
Hopefully, they do a better job on this Robert than they did on Robert DeNiro. Ouch.
Robert Englund will be coming to the UK this Saturday 29th Feb to Sunday 1st March for London Spring Showmasters comic-con so head on down and say hello!
