Firefly Fun House Match Review: Erm What Was That?!

The Fiend Vs John Cena

From the Boneyard match to the John Cena Vs Bray Wyatt showdown here is our Firefly Funhouse match review.

Firefly Fun House Match Review

Billed to be a trip and crazy match suddenly turned out to not be a match at all. Instead we had glimmers of cinematic brilliance but sadly the Boneyard match had already dug this segments grave.

What plays out like a promo as there’s next to zero wrestling involved in this ‘match’.

Cena enters the funhouse and explores his deepest insecurities.

His relationship with Nikki, becoming World Champion, Potentially turning heel and his failed rap career are all explored within this trippy mess.

Comprehensively taking apart Cena’s career mentally rather than physically is a nice touch.

The fact remains that I’m watching Wrestlemania for a wrestling match not a Christopher Nolan type exploration of someone’s inner psyche.

If I have to be honest it feels as thou all the budget went on the Boneyard match which is fine had this just been a normal match-up but it wasn’t. There was absolutely nothing going on here even remotely close to a wrestling match. It felt a little out of place.

As I opened up my laptop this morning I saw a certain website (who shall not be named) claim this match to be a ‘masterpiece’.

I’m not entirely sure how deep into isolation that said person was but I’m sure the craziness metre is just finely balanced in line with the freak show we saw last night.

Don’t get me wrong I didn’t hate it, I thought it was really well done. For a promo.

Firefly Fun House Match Overall

The Fiend Wrestlemania 36

As far as a wrestling match goes it was poor, very, very poor. Think Brock Lesnar doing suplex’s as his only move for a decade poor.

The piece served as a haunting glimpse of The Fiend Bray Wyatt but at least wrestle a bit. Using ‘the claw’ as your finishing move hasn’t been scary, like, ever.

I just keep picturing Jim Carrey in the movie Liar, LiarManKind wearing a sock on his hand rendered ‘the claw’ the least scary move in wrestling history.

It’s unclear where Cena’s character will go from here. It feel as thou this could have been a stepping stone towards a rebranding of his character.

At the very least it feels as thou it may be a step down from the ranks of being the poster boy to a benched player.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
