The fifth addition to the Scream franchise is well underway as filming has begun on the latest installment to the slasher franchise.
Well, we should say, it was underway.
Deadline reported that three crew members tested positive for coronavirus but it seems as though filming continued today as infected workers were not part of the primary ‘bubble’ of principal cast and crew.
With Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox back for the fifth installment fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this movie.
Directed by Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, written by Chad Villella and produced by Spyglass Media Group this looks like a home-run on paper.
Plot details are few and far between but all we know is that the story will revolve around a woman returning to her hometown to find out who has been committing a serious of gruesome crimes.
Whilst every press outlet and fan have been calling the movie Scream 5, the official title of this fifth instalment is just called Scream.
This name change added fuel to the fire that this may in fact be a reboot of the franchise with a few familiar faces merely making cameos.
Or the simpler explanation of just going back to the film’s roots such as Ghostbusters and Halloween who’s sequels have been called as such.
Confusing indeed.

More photos have been shared on Instagram from Donna McCoy as Scream 5 is currently being shot in North Carolina.
In rather striking news considering filming has only just begun, it seems that Dewey’s fate may already be hanging in the balance!
David Arquette showed off his Dewey moustache on the Tamron Hall Show with the official Scream twitter page leaving a rather ominous reply.

Courteney Cox Scream 5 Set Photos
On October 23rd the first on-set photos of Courteney Cox cropped up online as the film crew still battle through the pandemic and continue filming.
The actress was spotted in Wilmington, North Carolina as she wore her iconic red reporters dress.

Scream 5 officially wrapped on November 18th, 2020 as confirmed by writer Kevin Williamson on Twitter along with some cool photos.
The official title of the movie was also confirmed and it will just be named ‘Scream’.

Scream First Look Images Revealed
On October 11th, 2021 Entertainment Today released some first look images at the new movie in addition to the official poster reveal for the movie with a January 2022 release date.
The first look images showcase all of the characters of the film and a gorgeous picture of Ghostface to get us all pumped for the January release.
