Fans of Hannibal rejoice as Clarice, a Silence of the Lambs spinoff series has been commissioned by CBS.
Clarice TV Series
The TV series will focus on our favourite horror FBI agent Clarice Starling.
Variety reported that CBS is officially behind the series. Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet will serve as executive producers. The series will take place in 1993 after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. The series will go into the personal background of Starling as she returns to investigate murders and predators around the political world of Washington DC.
Kurtzman and Lumet commented with the following:
“After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes – Clarice Starling. Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”
No news has been released as to if Dr. Lecter will make an appearance but we’ll be sure to let you know if he does! It’s still very early days but we don’t know if this will be a tune in weekly series where every week will be a new case, or if this will be an ongoing continuous series.
What do you make of a Clarice focused TV series? Hopefully it doesn’t go the same way that the Hannibal series did. Crossed fingers they can learn from their mistakes and make this one a success!
