It’s with great sadness to announce that actor Kirk Douglas has passed away this evening.
Kirk Douglas Dies Aged 103
One of the most iconic actors of all time. Father to actor Michael Douglas has tonight passed away. His family have released a statement:
“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103″.
His son, actor, Michael Douglas, said in a statement
To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.”
Kirk is survived by his wife Anne, his children Michael, Joel and Peter and seven grandchildren.
Star of films like Spartacus, Champion, Saturn 3, Tough Guys and so much more Kirk Douglas was a screen legend.
Douglas was the survivor of a helicopter crash in 1991 and suffered a severe stroke in 1996. Notorious for being a maverick and a fighter he refused to give up. A true testament of strength and a passion to carry on.
The stunning career of Kirk Douglas
Kirk Douglas was nominated for best actor by the Academy of Motion Pictures arts and Sciences for his role in Champion (1949).
He was nominated once again in 1952 for The Bad and Beautiful and a final time in 1956 for Lust for Life.
In 1996 he was the recipient of an honorary Oscar Kirk Douglas stared in more than 80 movies before rising in 2004.
