Birds Of Prey Box Office Failure
With a budget of $80 million, you’d think that advertising would be in full swing.
Birds Of Prey has been a quiet release with content rarely seen outside of basic trailer release.
The prime Super Bowl advert slot was snubbed by Warner Brothers.
This suggests test screenings weren’t too strong or they just didn’t want to commit fully to this movie.
With figures announced today that the movie had a $34 million opening (at 4,236 North American sites), it’s way short of the pre-release forecast of $45 million.
Birds of Prey was praying for a $55 million launch.
Where Did It Go Wrong?
Whilst many critics reviewed this as rather a good movie many DC fans thou, however, were torn.
The younger generation gave the film positive remarks but a CinemaScore of B+ for over 25’s is very average indeed.
One fan commented on Variety:
Woke hard left feminists replacing the comics stories with poorly directed and laughable looking characters that are as shallow as the script is not a formula for success.
Hollywood needs to ditch the Marxism as its infecting every project and losing hundreds of millions weekly. Get woke, hemorrhage money and fans
Whilst another commented:
Suicide squad should have been reason enough not to green light this turd, ms Robbie’s vanity project comes to an end!
There were way more comments where that came from.
As you’ve no doubt read our very own Birds of Prey review by now you’ll know that I wholeheartedly agree with the above.
A sloppy mess of a movie mixed with minimum advertising and seemingly (my own opinion of course) zero faith in the movie from the suits.
A vanity project that may just end any hope of future (and perhaps more improved) Harley Quinn standalone films.

International reception of Birds of Prey has been poor. On Friday the film grossed $10.3 million from 78 markets bringing the international total to $18.1 million.
Bad Boys Reigns Supreme
For the fourth weekend running Bad Boys for Life is holding top spot.
This incredible comedy that is currently blowing records apart was facing serious competition from Ms. Harley Quinn.
In our Bad Boys 3 box office coverage we even stated that Birds of Prey is the only film to knock Bad Boys off its perch. It has failed.
Bad Boys will finish the frame with more than $166 million in North America.
It looks like on this occasion bad boys beat the under-performing girls.
Overall
It feels as thou no one really understood their audience when pitching this movie.
For me, Will Smith was the standout performer of Suicide Squad.
A standalone Deadshot movie. Now that would have been something!
This man-hating trying too hard to be Deadpool flick has succumbed to the DC curse.
After the Birds of Prey box office failure at least we have Joker to salvage from the ever growing dung heap of DC releases.
